FAQ’s – Security and Privacy

Can anyone participate in Vidigami?

Participation in Vidigami is through invitation only. Because each Vidigami community is a private and secure network, participation requires authentication from Vidigami and the school.

What is your privacy policy?

Vidigami is committed to protecting information relating to you, your children, your school, your family, your friends, and everyone that makes up your community. We are honoured that you have entrusted the security and privacy of this information to Vidigami and we strive every day to ensure that the information is not compromised. We work to comply with the privacy policy of your school and our supplemental privacy policy, and have designed Vidigami to be a trusted place for your school memories. We use our best efforts to authenticate users and hold users accountable for the content that is shared. We provide tools to personalize content for participants and rely on the integrity of participants to ensure content is shared only with authenticated members of the community.

Will Vidigami keep all of my photos year after year?

As long as the school chooses to continue with Vidigami for storing and sharing it’s school memories, the entire repository of photos collected will be stored and made available to the school.  Families have access while their children are attending the school and at the school’s option, access to photos after students graduate is determined by the school.  Families and students have download photos for personal use at any time.  Should the school choose to discontinue using Vidigami, the school will have options for where the repository of photos can be re-located.

Where does Vidigami store the photos?

Vidigami securely stores all photos on the cloud using Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its service provider.

What about the security of our photos on the cloud?

The AWS cloud infrastructure has been designed and managed in alignment with regulations, standards, and best-practices including:
HIPAA
SOC 1/SSAE 16/ISAE 3402 (formerly SAS70)
SOC 2
SOC 3
PCI DSS Level 1
ISO 27001

I would like to exclude my child from participation in Vidigami. What should I do?

While our hope is that all parents and children participate in the Vidigami program, we acknowledge that some families may not wish to participate. In this case your school can:

  1. Exclude that student and his family from the Vidigami user base — their student name, and parents’ names will not appear anywhere in Vidigami.
  2. Flag photos that may include that student or their family. Inappropriate photos may be flagged by any Vidigami user. This includes photos of students who are not able to participate in the program. When a photo is “flagged” that photo will immediately be removed from view by all users, with the exception of the school’s administrator.
  3. The admin can choose to invite only those families who wish to participate in Vidigami.

Will my information be used for any other purposes?

Your information will not be used for any purpose other than for identification purposes on Vidigami.

Can others download the photos I upload to Vidigami?

Members who have access to your grade are able download the photos you upload to Vidigami. However, a warning that photos are for personal use only will be displayed to ensure users understand the terms of use.

How do I flag an inappropriate image?

If you identify an image that is “inappropriate”, please “flag” the image. By “flagging” the image, the photo will no longer be visible to members of the community. Any flagged photos or comments provided are confidential and are not publicly available to the community. The designated school administrator will have an opportunity to review and assess the photos that have been flagged.
